The Tools of Daily Creation

I’ll keep this quick: today, with the technology and advancements we have, there are no excuses not to create daily.

You have paper and pen.

You have devices – including your phone – that can can record you speaking or singing something.

You can use voice-to-text to write that one sentence daily – and anyone can do one sentence.

This is not making light of your struggle. I know it’s more complicated than that. I know you have struggles; so do I.

I have Fibromyalgia. I have had two strokes. I have arthritis in my spine. There are days I cannot type because of the pain, and cannot think clearly because of brain fog.

You know what I do on those days? I take one of the unsticking tools and I use voice-to-text.

Even if what I write or speak is garbage, I made something new – and that inertia helps me to make something new the next day, and the day after, and the day after that.

Anyone can write one sentence. Yes, even you. Even when you don’t know what exactly to write.

It can be as simple as, “[Character] sat down and stared at his tea until it went cold.”

That’s it. That’s creation. That’s one step toward being a stronger, more consistent writer.

You don't have to have the perfect setup, the perfect day, the perfect moment to create. You just have to be willing to CHOOSE. #CreateIt22 Click To Tweet
